Round 4 Round Up 

The Vale Warriors moved to the top of the WARFL table as they completed the double over the Cardiff Doubles Blues. Having won in Cardiff a few weeks ago, in one of the closest matches in WARFL history, the two teams again battled it out to the death as the Warriors came out 15.0.90 - 12.2.74 to leave the Double Blues at the bottom of the table.

The Bristol Dockers also completed a double over Swansea as they came out on top away to the Magpies. The Dockers came home 21.22.148 - 9.8.62 winners. The result leaves the Dockers and Magpies in 3rd & 4th place respectively. A full match report can be found at http://www.swanseamagpies.co.uk/

Round 3 Round Up


The third round of the WARFL 2012 season saw only one game played as the competitions most heated rivals, the Cardiff Panthers and Cardiff Double Blues, met for the first time on Monday 28 May at Sport Wales.

As they have done for most of this season, the Panthers dominated throughout the game and secured a comprehensive victory, finishing 25.3.153 - 2.4.16 winners.

The round other match between the Bristol Dockers and Vale Warriors was rearranged.

Round 2 Round Up - May 19th


The second week of the WARFL season saw the Swansea Magpies keep their place at the top of the league despite a 16.22.118 - 11.15.81 loss away to the Bristol Dockers. The Magpies' losers point took their tally to five after two rounds and they sit above the Vale Warriors only by points percentage. A full write up can be found at http://www.swanseamagpies.co.uk/

The Warriors themselves came through one of the closest matches ever seen in the WARFL. They saw off a strong comeback as they beat the Cardiff Double Blues 17.15.117 - 16.18.114 at Pontcanna Fields, Cardiff.  A good crowd turned out to watch the two teams as they both looked to bounce back from round 1 defeats.

Round 1 Round Up - May 12th


The 2012 Welsh Australian Rules Football League season got off to an explosive start over the weekend as the first round of matches saw two massive scores posted as the Cardiff Panthers and Swansea Magpies looked to assert their dominance.

The Cardiff Panthers won 34.12.205 – 7.7.49 against the Vale Warriors in Barry. Chris James top scored with 6.4.40 points to his name. Please see http://www.cardiffpanthers.co.uk/ for a full match report

The Swansea Magpies won 22.22.154 – 3.3.21 at home to the Cardiff Double Blues. Donal Galvin top scored with 7.1.43 points. Please see http://www.swanseamagpies.co.uk/ for a full match report.

Unfortunately the Bridgend Eagles have had to pull out of the competition for 2012.

Christmas/End of Season Meal, Sat. Dec 3rd

Starting at the North Star for a meal at 6:30pm (the menu is below and includes half a bottle of wine each). Meal choices and payment should be given to James Gibson (WARFL President) in advance.

Wales win EuroCup 2011 Plate Competition

Congratulations to the Cymru Red Dragons on bringing home a trophy for the EuroCup. The team were unable to bring back the EuroCup itself but did win the Plate competition beating Spain by 40 points in the final. A further update will be posted soon.

Wales drawn in Euro Cup group with Iceland and England

The Euro Cup is taking place in Belfast on Saturday 8th October in Belfast. The Cymru Red Dragons are in a group with Iceland, and the old enemy, England. The very best of luck to our Welsh boys who will no doubt do us proud.

The fixtures for our boys are as follows:

  • 10.30 am: England vs Wales.
  • 12.30 pm: Wales vs Iceland.
  • Knockout sstages from 2.00 pm onwards.
